The CIE is awarded to delegates who have taken both one day London-based sessions as below and who have achieved a pass mark in the 1 hour examination set. The programme for achievement of a CIE qualification is:
DAY ONE:
The exhibition industry, scope of choices, alternatives, criteria for show selection, lateral thinking, type of organiser, types of exhibition, questions to ask, spotting the flops, return on objectives and investment, research possibilities, budgeting, evaluation.
Importance of size and shape, site selection considerations, shell schemes and space only, visitor strategies, standing out from competitors, modular display systems, planning the layout, colours, graphics, lighting, décor, staff as design building memorability.
DAY TWO:
STAND PUBLICITY AND MANAGEMENT
Stand promotions, PR on a pre-show, at-show and post-show basis, advertising, direct mail, fax-shots and e-marketing, stand security, staff rotas, planning for different visitor types, insurance, transportation, accommodation.
Choosing the best staff, training staff, the special nature of exhibition stand work, maximising all the opportunities, benefit selling, formulating opening lines, asking questions, steering conversations, closing, dealing with the press, students, complaints, time wasters, exhibition psychology and body language, following up. Examination.
All sessions run from 10.30 am till 4.30 pm, and are hosted at 16 Park Crescent, London W1. The fee for the CIE is £825 plus VAT per delegate or £660 plus VAT per delegate if two or more attend from the same organisation, of if delegate is an SEO member (Free sign up at www.seoevent.co.uk).
