The SEO presents a number of events for event organisers. Most are part of the SEO Continuing Professional Development Programme (CPD) and delegates are issued with a certificate of attendance.

CERTIFICATE IN EXHIBITION MANAGEMENT (CEM)
This is a four day London based non residential exhibitors course run by the National Exhibitors Association (NEA) with a 1½ hour, 150 question examination. Fee is £980 plus VAT per delegate, or £880 plus VAT if two or more delegates attend from the same organisation. (£740 plus VAT for SEO members). Held at 16 Park Crescent, London W1. See below:–

Marketing with exhibitions covers overview of industry, show and organiser types, selecting an event, return on objectives, budgeting, evaluation. Thursday 10 January 2008.

Effective stand design covers choosing a site, shell schemes and space only, visitor strategies, colour, graphics and building memorablilty. Friday 18 January 2008.

Stand publicity and management covers stand promotions, PR visitor attractions, stand security, staff rotas, insurance, transportation, accommodation. Friday 25 January 2008.

Stand operation and manning covers staff selection and training, benefits selling, opening lines, exhibition psychology, follow up. Examination. Monday 28 January 2008.

CERTIFICATE IN CONFERENCE ORGANISATION (CCO)
This is a four day course with a 1½ hour, 150 question examination. Non-residential London course dates are hosted at 16 Park Crescent, London W1. Fee is £980 plus VAT per delegate, or £880 plus VAT if two or more delegates attend from the same organisation. (£740 plus VAT for SEO members). Residential presentations are being held in May 2008 in the South of England and in August 2008 in the North, dates as below, venues TBA. Fee, to include four nights accommodation, all meals and tuition is £1,800 plus VAT per delegate, £1,550 plus VAT per delegate if two or more delegates attend from the same organisation and £1,400 plus VAT per delegate for SEO member delegates. Non-residential places are £1,000 plus VAT or £900 plus VAT per delegate if two or more delegates attend from the same organisation and £800 plus VAT per delegate for SEO member delegates.

Sourcing, evaluating and negotiating with venues covering where to find the best
venues, inspecting them and getting the best packages.  Friday 8 February 2008 (London), Wednesday 7 May 2008 (South), Friday 27 June 2008 (London), Wednesday 6 August 2008 (South), Wednesday 27 August 2008 (North).

Conference Administration covering contracts, organisation, delegate and speaker care, trouble-shooting and evaluation.  Friday 15 February 2008 (London), Thursday 8 May 2008 (South), Friday 4 July 2008 (London), Thursday 7 August 2008 (South), Thursday 28 August 2008 (North).

Staging a conference for profit covering conception, budgeting, pricing, getting sponsorship and marketing. Examination. Friday 22 February 2008 (London), Friday 9 May 2008 (South), Friday 11 July 2008 (London), Friday 8 August 2008 (South), Friday 29 August 2008 (North).

CERTIFICATE IN CONFERENCE FOOD AND BEVERAGE (CCFB)

This is a three day London based non-residential course with a 1½ hour, 150 question examination. Course dates are hosted at 16 Park Crescent, London W1. Fee is £745 plus VAT per delegate, £645 plus VAT if two or more attend from the same organisation. (£565 plus VAT for SEO members). See below:–

Day one – Menus, budgets, trends, health and safety, legalities, drink with food (Part one). Friday 4 April 2008.

Day two – Food facts, breakfasts, lunches, dinners, bar service and legalities, drink with food (Part two). Friday 11 April 2008.

Day Three – Networking with F & B, service options and logistics, theming, memorability, drink with food (Part three). Examination. Friday 18 April 2008.

CERTIFICATE IN CONFERENCE MARKETING (CCM)

This is a three day London based non-residential course with a 1½ hour 150 question examination. Course dates are hosted at 16 Park Crescent, London W1. Fee is £745 plus VAT per delegate, £645 plus VAT if two or more attend from the same organisation. (£565 plus VAT for SEO members). See below:–

The Conference Proposition (Day One) – Friday 7 November 2008. Concept, positioning, programme, timings, location, pricing, strategic partnerships and sponsorship.

Presenting the Proposition (Day two) – Friday 14 November 2008. Copywriting for business events, framework, motivating to attend, layout and design.

Promoting the Proposition (Day three) – Friday 21 November 2008. Advertising, database building, direct marketing, press relations, e-marketing. Examination.

DIPLOMA IN CONFERENCE ORGANISATION (DCO)

This is a new twelve day non-residential course incorporating the 4 days of the CCO. Delegates already holding the CCO qualification may take the eight additional days (based in London) to sit the exam. Subjects additionally covered in-depth are Project Management, Event Insurance, Food and Beverages, Venue Selection, (Exercise), Audio Visual and Speakers, Leagal Issues, Disability Issues, Medical and Fire Emergencies, Event Publicity, Organising Overseas Events. Dates: August 14-17 and August 20-23. Full fee for both CCO/DCO £2,940 plus VAT. Full fee for holders of CCO £1,960 plus VAT. Discounts for two or more delegates from the same organisation and for SEO members.

Prospecting for leads is a half day in-house training session for exhibition stand staff, presented by the National Exhibitors Association (NEA) and concentrating on getting the most leads from an exhibition. It covers such aspects as attracting visitors, psychology and body language, opening conversations, asking the right questions, selling benefits, closing conversations and following up. It can be held anywhere in the UK.

Fee is £250, plus £10 per delegate, plus travel, accommodation and VAT.
